This is a composite listing of over 200 staff members known to have worked at Woodbury Avenue School from its first term (1924-25) to its final term as part of the Huntington Public Schools (1970-71). It is comprised of data gleaned from several sources:

1) A booklet was compiled for the June 11, 1971 gathering of former faculty, staff members, school board members, administrators, PTA members and students from throughout the lifetime of the school (furnished by Joanne Ahern-Senk, Woodbury Class of 1970, and Alex Dorato, Class of 1971). This booklet included an informative 1971 letter from former principal (and superintendent) J. Taylor Finley, a summary of recollections from former head custodian Ernest Milliken, excerpts from several of Mr. Finley's annual reports from the 1930s, and a compilation (archival sources unknown) of past staff members' names and dates of hire.

2) A mimeographed booklet was compiled in 1971 entitled "The Evolution of the Huntington Public Schools, 1794 to 1971", comprised of various reports, articles and school board meeting minutes (furnished by Alex Dorato, Class of '71).

3) Faculty and class group portraits, from 1934 through 1971, were contributed by former principal Jack Abrams and numerous alumni.

4) Faculty/staff rosters from 1951, 1962, 1968 and 1971 were furnished by Mr. Abrams.

5) "Dear Parents" newsletter, dated 6/24/65 (furnished by Teresa Pietromartire Mazza, Woodbury Class of 1969).

6) There were also personal alumni & faculty recollections of names and time periods not documented elsewhere.

Years shown in parentheses reflect, in most cases, the concluding year of the school term for which the employee was hired (i.e. 1925 usually reflects a 1924 hiring for the 1924-25 term). Most of these dates came from source #1, above. Years shown in brackets reflect the first appearance of the employee in sources #2, 3, 4, or 5, with a brief explanatory note; the year of hire would possibly precede the year indicated by an indefinite period.

The accuracy of dates and spellings is not guaranteed. In fact, any corrections or suggested clarifications of this data would be most welcome, as would any additional data that is not yet listed.
